Not Quite the All Blacks

Updated: Oct 27, 2019

Monday afternoons I get off school an hour early which allows for wandering time. This week I need to do some errands so I was trying to find the grocery store I had gone to with my host family the day before. I was trying to find the turn-off but missed it, which in turn was cool because I ended up walking into Luxembourg! (I did end up finding the store and all was good.) Slowish week, but I had plans made for the weekend so it got me through.

Saturday, I ventured out on my own for a bit into Luxembourg for a look around and to watch a rugby match with a classmate who lives there. The city is quite pretty and also quite busy! I even found a Hema that I popped into for a few minutes. Plans changed last minute and I had to find my way to the stadium alone on transit, which always makes me a bit anxious. (Did you know all in city transit is free of charge?!) While waiting for the bus, I had a lady ask me if I knew where her bus number was and I was able to help her find it EN FRANÇAIS, I was really quite proud!

Lineout Time!

I only ended up missing the first few minutes of the game, but man was the whole thing so cool. Some many of the spectators were anglophones and quite a loud bunch. I made sure to wear my New Zealand scarf and hat, as they had just won their quarter final that morning against the Irish. The Czech proved to be better than the Luxembourgish with a score of 36-7, but then again neither of them were the All Blacks. Overall, very glad I got to watch!

Found me a pricey Vanilla Latte!

Some weeks are so tough for me, where all I can seem to think about are my family and friends, my want to be in the comfort of my own home, how uncomfortable this whole experience is and if it is all worth it. But it's when I get to have these little adventures on my own when I see how much "good" it is doing to me. I get to learn how to be a little more curious, a little more independent. So I'm going to try to do as much of it as I can.

All the love,

E
